NECO has an exciting opportunity in our Commonwealth Clinic for a Patient Billing and Claims Reviewer.
NECO Center for Eye Care is the affiliated clinical system of the New England College of Optometry.
This position will be located at 930 Commonwealth Avenue in our Commonwealth clinic.
This is a full-time position that reports to the Revenue Cycle Manager.
This position is responsible for discussing outstanding balances with patients, identifying accounts for collection, processing refunds, reviewing claims, and preparing files for electronic claims and patient statements.
RESPONSIBILITIES Answer/return calls from patients regarding outstanding balances and take payment via phone when warranted Process patient refunds Identify accounts to be sent to collections Review electronic claims prior to them being billed; work with Providers to resolve any issues that will prevent claims from being billed or paid Prepare file within Compulink for electronic claims and send them to Emdeon; provide Claims Coordinator with rejected claims for rebilling Review patient balances prior to sending patient balance statements Prepare file within Compulink for patient statements and send to statement service Update patient billing address when indicated Provide backup coverage for the Eligibility Coordinator consisting of verifying insurance benefits for patients with upcoming appointments Demonstrates a commitment to promote a safe environment for patients, visitors and peers Liaisons with staff responsible for daily transactional and business operations Supports all department initiatives in improving overall efficiency Meets department quality and production standards Able to work and adjust priorities in a fast-paced environment Perform other duties as required QUALIFICATIONS Two years minimum experience in medical office or billing experience preferred High School Diploma or equivalent work experience Proven track record with customer service, organizational skills, etc.
ICD10 and CPT experience preferred REQUIRED SKILLS Proficiency in Microsoft Office software Experience with Electronic Medical/Health Record and Practice Management software preferred Excellent communication skills, written and oral Demonstrated understanding and compliance with HIPAA privacy requirements Must be able to work efficiently and effectively in a busy environment Working knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid rules and regulations, and CPT and ICD-10 coding Working knowledge of private insurance and vision plan rules and regulations Able to work both independently and as a member of a team Excellent follow-up skills Demonstrated ability to handle details, multi-task, and prioritize work Ability to solve problems effectively PI226453507 Recommended Skills Billing Claim Processing Clinical Works Communication Coordinating Customer Service Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
